REFLECTIONS
I believe that each person is a gift. And it's my job as a children's book writer is to make sure each reader understands that fact.
I believe all times are holy, and each tradition is sacred. And that the simple sharing of love will make our beliefs come alive and our dreams come true.
I believe that there is a light which can't be put out. It is inside of you. And when you let that light shine on the world, you not only let the world know who you really are, but who they really are.
I believe that that the tiniest gesture -- a smile, a gentle look, a simple pat on the arm, a soft word -- can change a person's life. (That's one reason I enjoy being a teacher.)
I believe that this life is on your side. This universe supports you. (In some of my books, my characters don't believe this at first, but they usually do by the end.)
I believe that life is meant to be happy. I know it doesn't feel like it sometimes. But I believe it's true. Like a carpenter or a sculptor, you just need to use the "tools" that Life gives you.
I believe the best of these tools is love. Just love everything that Life has to offer. And love every person. And you'll see your life change.
These reflections are some of the ideas that I try to get through to both children and grown-ups in my books.
I hope that when I leave this world, I will have left behind stories that will enhance the lives of many.
